Legalize Marijuana to Make Our Forests Safe

This year has seen many humongous marijuana grows on public lands, one recent find was estimated close to one hundred thousand plants. These grows endangers any of us that would use public land for recreation. If we were to legalize marijuana it would be grown in fields by farmers using modern farm equipment, such competition would put growers using shovels and picks out of business. Legalizing marijuana would make our public lands a safer place.

The L.A. times is reporting that almost 100,000 plants were found on four farms in the San Bernardino National Forest west of Palm Springs. No arrests have been made.
Prohibition of marijuana is not only a waste of the valuable time of our law enforcement officers. It endangers the public, from swat raids in our neighborhoods, to growers on our public lands. When it becomes legal we will not have dispensaries being robbed, and we would end the Black Market violence seen today.

Anti Marijuana Crowd is Violent Terrorists

Last month we seen the fire bombing of a medical marijuana dispensary. Last week two medical marijuana dispensary workers were killed and one wounded. This week has started with the fire bombing of two medical marijuana businesses.

I often find it ironic that those who are against marijuana exhibit traits that they claim marijuana to cause. Here we see brain dead, paranoid people resort to a violent arson attack on law biding business men. This terrorist attack was because the anti marijuana groups are unable to accept the change of marijuana from illegal to legal for medicinal use.

Two medical marijuana businesses in Billings have been hit with firebombs and vandalized with "NOT IN OUR TOWN" spray-painted on their storefronts.
LINK

Another case for legalizing marijuana, with only a few medical clinics they are easy targets for the violence of these anti marijuana crowds. By legalizing it anyone can use it for any reason, thus allowing those with any medical needs to have unrestricted use. Marijuana is one of the safest medicinal herbs and has been used as such for thousands of years. 70yrs ago it was made illegal to promote pharmaceutical drugs and wood fiber paper among other things.

The prohibition of marijuana was hurried through the law making process and was not pushed for by the people. With the prohibition of alcohol the Temperance League had pushed for a change, it lasted 14yrs from 1919 until 1933. Time for marijuana prohibition to end!

Debating Marijuana with Hostiles

First: Do a remake of their avatar to reflect their inner self. Of course this will test their patients and their sense of humor. Probably they will not have any sense of humor, but it could be satisfying anyway.

Second: Watch out for mods that are close minded as they revel in censorship.
If you encounter such throw this quote at them:

Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real. Somewhere in their upbringing they were shielded against the total facts of our experience. They were only taught to look one way when many ways exist.

Third: Do not allow members or mods to make unwritten rules to manipulate the thread.

Fourth: Remember though not posting many are reading the post, so just put forth your point!

Fifth: Know there are some debates you will not win, but others reading the thread might follow up on any facts you LINK to. ;)

US Federal Gov. Needs to Re-Schedule Marijuana

All of the US states and Territories have people who are discovering that marijuana is not only a good pain killer, but can do the job without the harsh side effects of pharmaceutical drugs.

Marijuana has been used as a medicinal herb since before Christ, only in the last 70 years have there been laws against it. It's known to be non-toxic and in its natural form is among the safest medicinal herbs ever used. I hear concerns about dosage with marijuana which is much safer than aspirin, which is toxic:

"there are over 500 aspirin deaths in this country every year."

I also hear concerns about the number of medical marijuana users we have today:

American consumers spend $700,000,000 to 800,000,000 per year on painkillers (excluding opiates), especially aspirin and acetaminophen, the very common alternative that is marketed under names such as Tylenol, Datril, and Liquiprin

LINK

Marijuana would help many Americans to reduce their use of the addictive prescription painkillers, whose use has been going up at a alarming rate:

The amount of five major painkillers sold at retail establishments rose 90 percent between 1997 and 2005, according to an Associated Press analysis of statistics from the Drug Enforcement Administration. More than 200,000 pounds of codeine, morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone and meperidine were purchased at retail stores during the most recent year represented in the data. That total is enough to give more than 300 milligrams of painkillers to every person in the country.
LINK

These prescription drugs are the main cause of Over Dose Deaths in the US:

In fact, prescription drugs cause most of the more than 26,000 fatal overdoses each year, says Leonard Paulozzi of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The number of overdose deaths from opioid painkillers — opium-like drugs that include morphine and codeine — more than tripled from 1999 to 2006, to 13,800 deaths that year, according to CDC statistics released Wednesday.

LINK

So marijuana is non-toxic and the dosage while not being set as with pills is simple, use what you need, as it is safer than any other painkiller being sold in the US! If the Federal Government would reschedule marijuana to represent its safe use. Marijuana would be a over the counter medicinal herb that could not only help tens of millions of American to safely manage their pain, but could save lives lost from Over Dosing on Pharmaceutical drugs.

Oregon Gubernatorial Candidate Dudlely a Dud for Marijuana

Gubernatorial Candidate Chris Dudley will not give Oregon voters a straight answer on his position on marijuana. This is a serious problem when for the voters of Oregon which was the first state to decriminalize marijuana. How can you elect a leader who is already avoiding the important question:

"What is Chris Dudley’s stance on marijuana issues in Oregon? Specifically, how does he feel about legalization, the current state of the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program, and whether or not Oregon should allow medical marijuana dispensaries?"

The answer from his campaign headquarters:
Week one;
"We are not sure, we will get back to you"

Week two;
"He has not issued an official stance on any of your questions."

Week three;
"If this is that same guy that has been calling all week, Chris Dudley has not issued an official position on marijuana, and probably won’t before the election, so quit calling."

Chris Dudley voted less than half of the time in the last 13 elections. While he was a professional athlete, he didn’t vote AT ALL.
LINK

I hope that this message gets out to all the voters Dudley is not being open and honest about his stance on marijuana, how could anyone trust such a deceptive candidate. I wonder if the question was phrased differently what his answer might become? I might just have to call him and ask;

" I am a conservative voter and would like to know how you plan to handle Oregon's Drug problem, what does he plan to do about marijuana which is getting out of control in Oregon?"

I really wonder how his campaign HQ will answer the question, we shall see!

Fake Pot Hits Alaska

Fake pot a mixture of herbs sprayed with and synthetic THC like chemical is now known to be on the streets of Alaska.

A Juneau man in his 20s was admitted Monday to Bartlett Regional Hospital with hallucinations, severe vomiting, shallow breathing and an inability to walk after smoking an incense product with friends. He was released the next day.
LINK

What is truly sad about this story, is that we are seeing another way that prohibition of marijuana is harming the people of the United States. Marijuana is non toxic and safe herb, but it is illegal. Synthetic THC is a chemical product that acts similar to the active ingredient in marijuana, but is reported to make users sick and cause severe hallucinations, and it is legal.

Marijuana was outlawed by greed and the people have suffered through pharmaceutical drugs and their side effects ever since. Before marijuana was outlawed, many over the counter preparations contained marijuana / cannabis. Marijuana was also one of Americas most important agricultural crops until America's billionaires declared war against it.

MARIJUANA is DANGEROUS. Pot is NOT harmful to the human body or mind. Marijuana does NOT pose a threat to the general public. Marijuana is very much a danger to the oil companies, alcohol, tobacco industries and a large number of chemical corporations. Various big businesses, with plenty of dollars and influence, have suppressed the truth from the people.
Link

The above link does a good job of explaining how marijuana was made illegal. We can see that the Law has always been about profits for the elites and never about protecting Americans.

Marijuana for Desperate Times

With unemployment numbers soaring, many people have been thrown into desperate times. Because money is a must have in our society, many people are turning to marijuana to provide an income. Marijuana grows are being busted in record numbers across the entire country, as people fight to survive.

I urge you to use caution in making the decision to grow marijuana as it might give you, three hots and a cot, instead of cash. In these desperate times, law enforcement is also putting extra effort into making money off of marijuana. They want your house, cars, toys and anything else of value.

Forget about getting a private lawyer, as they will clean out your Bank Accounts and freeze your credit. Nope you can't mortgage your house either as they are attaching the tittle. Their game is rigged so you lose and they profit. Please think twice, before you pop a few seeds in the ground, it could be a decision that ruins your life!

Fight our current laws by spreading the truth about marijuana and point out the lies that are being spread against it.

Write Away Marijuana?

An article I read at the Telegraph UK this morning gets my blog's attention.

The article: General McChrystal: the fall guy for the president's failure?

By Con Coughlin

The article goes in to details of why Obama was wrong to fire McChrystal and defends the Generals right to speak privately.
LINK

Sorry Con, but you can not just write away the use of marijuana by the General.

What the article does not mention is, General McChystal and his aides were engaged in smoking marijuana. The use of marijuana is against the Army regulations and is illegal in both the US and Afghanistan. Why would a writer attempt to find wrong with Obama's firing this Pot Head from one of our Nations most critical Military positions?

It would seem to me that this was another attempt to slander the President that the American People and Electoral College placed in office. Why would Mr. Coughlin do that? Rupert Murdoch owns the Telegraph UK and FOX News among other News sources and he has been pimping Sara Palin as one of the next United States Presidential Candidates. IMHO: Her only qualification for the position is she is undoubtedly a chronic liar and does so at every opportunity. There might be one other qualification, that is if greed is a qualification!

Marijuana is good enough for the Gubinator, our current President and Top Army Generals to smoke, so why can't we smoke it too? Well you can, but you could end up jailed. For doing the very same thing our leaders have done, or that they are doing!

It is not about the dangers of the drug, but rather the profits that are being made by the status quo of marijuana law. Many large companies make profit from suffering cancer patients, such as the pharmaceutical companies and health care industry. Some of the other industries and organizations that profit are, the prison industry, the cotton industry and the law enforcement industry. To legalize marijuana would really upset the billions of dollars in profit that are made from these industries and those that support law enforcement organizations.

Cops Love Marijuana Busts But Hate Meth Busts

Years ago I watched a program where a law enforcement officer explained that Meth Busts were not profitable to the department. Where as with marijuana grows they usually got cash, homes, cars, guns, and many other expensive toys. Today I sat looking at my Google search results, News last twenty four hours Marijuana 24,086 hits! Somewhere that officer talking about the profit difference came to mind. So I did a Google search News last twenty four hours Meth 66 hits, what is wrong with this picture?

It shows that police are backing away from meth busts because their departments are less likely to make a profit. Meth is known to cause violence and is considered one of the most destructive drugs on the streets. Marijuana is a non toxic herb that should never have been outlawed, and its use does not cause users to be violent.

We see our law enforcement has become addicted to marijuana busts as a form of easy money. While they avoid Meth as there is little or no profit in arresting the violent users or cooks of the Meth trade. Arresting people for possesing or growing medicinal herbs seems to be our law enforcements main obsession these days.

Next I searched Google News and in the last twenty four hours a whopping total for crime 142,513 hits. Could I have been wrong in my assertion that police are more concerned about the profit, making herb busts their main occupation? I decided to add -marijuana to the crime search criteria, the results dropped to 36,859 hits. I know this is not the most reliable polling method ever used, but I also feel the results show law enforcement has a huge problem with their priorities. I feel our lawmakers have stacked the deck with funding and writing law that makes marijuana busts the priority of law enforcement officers across the country!

Prohibition and Our Tax Dollars

I keep saying the war on marijuana users is an incredible waste of the taxpayers money. Once again lots of hard police work pays off;

Officers of the Woodbury Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant, capping a two-month investigation.

Two marijuana plants were seized and two people arrested following the execution of a search warrant Friday at a West Street residence
Link

Yes you read that right, two months investigation brings in two marijuana plants. It is bad enough that a police department wasted two months on this investigation, but now there will be court cost and possibly the cost of imprisonment. Two months police work court cost etc, your looking in to tens of thousands of dollars, for two marijuana plants! Yes the taxpayers are expected to see this eradication of a medicinal herb as the saving our society. Saving it from what you ask? Why to save us from more people using marijuana of course, it could take billions out of the cooperate elite's profits if marijuana is legalized!

At this time we need to watch our politicians carefully and rid ourselves of the ones that are looking out for the corporations profits instead of the good of the people.

Marijuana Prosecution Has Always Been Biased in US

United States Army Four Star General Smoking Stanley McChrystal

Today I read several stories on President Obama's decision to replace Gen. Stanley McChrystal. Some of the writers were against the Presidents decision as the General had not disobeyed but rather expressed trivial opinions. While others said that a military man should have shown more restraint when talking with reporters.

Out of six headline stories not one mentioned that the General and his aides had been smoking Marijuana. One thing that stuck out in all the stories that do state, that the Army Officers were smoking marijuana, is no one ever mentions having the Officers being tested for Drug use. Opiates should have been tested for immediately after learning these Army Officers were using marijuana, Afghanistan is the worlds leading supplier of Opium and it's use known to be a major problem among the troops there.

A US General with a Top Secret security clearance can smoke marijuana for recreational use and most writers take no notice of wrong doing. The press is more concerned about the political reasoning of relieving McChrystal of command in Afghanistan, than the fact the top commander was using a dangerous drug.

All of the Officers involved should be required to enroll in ASAP Army Substance Abuse Program as they would require any other Army personnel. We have a president that admits smoking Marijuana, the Governor from the state with the most electoral votes has his Doobie smoking picture floating around the internet. We now have two New York Gubernatorial candidates that are admitting they have smoked Marijuana. According to our current law all marijuana smokers are drug users and as such they are criminals.

It is time to change the law!

Police Chief Wants MMJ Patient to Stand Trial

Law enforcement and the King County Prosecuting Attorney want to press charges against a medical marijuana patient caught with ten ounces. Now this is where things get strange, two Superior Court Judge's have ruled on the case and ordered the police dept. to return the mans marijuana. Now the police have resubmitted the case for a third time to the Prosecuting Attorney, WTF?

Prosecutors had initially declined to press charges in the case, and a King County Superior Court judge ordered the Snoqualmie Police Department to give the man the marijuana seized when he was arrested in 2009.

Police contested the order, which the judge, Sharon Armstrong, upheld at a June 16 hearing.

“Our knowledge of the investigation is that the medical marijuana process really doesn’t apply,” Snoqualmie Police Chief Jim Schaffer said before the hearing.

Schaffer said he did not know of any police department that has returned marijuana in similar circumstances.

Snoqualmie police resubmitted the charges to the prosecutor’s office again after the June 16 hearing, according to Becky Munson, the department’s spokeswoman.

Another kink arose in the case June 19 when the prosecution’s primary witness died of natural causes.

LINK

There is really something seriously wrong when police will not follow a Judges order. This gets even more incredible as a second judge upheld the decision and yet
Snoqualmie Police Chief Jim Schaffer is fighting to sentence the MMJ patient!

Now we see a Police Chief who thinks he knows law better than two judges. This should not surprise me as I am constantly reading of law enforcement officers who diagnose patients and know what drugs Dr's should or should not prescribe them. Now we have law enforcement that defies the Superior Court.

Time to put our public servants on notice and reaffirm their role as servants not rulers in our society!

Medical Marijuana Debunking Law Enforcements FUD

Tom Bergin,a sponsor of Initiative 32 (I-32) which will block all current Medical Marijuana laws and have medical marijuana patients using Marinol or aspirin in its stead. When you have read the article I'm sure you will be angered by the County Sheriff blatantly lying to the public so he could terrorize patients who choose to use medical Medical Marijuana.

A really interesting fact is our Government is growing medical marijuana for $20 a ounce, not $320 to $500 a ounce that is being charged to patients in the current Medical Marijuana scheme.

Dr Phil,
The U.S. Government, which grows it, says Medical Marijuana can be grown for $20 an ounce which makes about 50 MJ cigarettes, maybe more.

Sheriff Bergin,
Marijuana contains about 460 CARCINOGENS.

Dr Phil,
This is totally false and a real surprise. The U.S. Government owns a patent for the use of Cannabis/Marijuana to treat cancer and pure Cannabis chemical, THC, is used to treat cancer patients.

Sheriff Bergin,
Sponsered I-32 which would block all current Medical Marijuana laws and make a new one in which tax payers would pay for or subsidize Marinol costs at about $15 each for “legitimate Medical Marijuana patients” some of whom take 4 a day.

Dr Phil,
We have 35,000 MMJ patients in Oregon and soon will have 40,000 and going up. Marinol costs would be astronomical.
LINK

Well worth the read, it shows how much lies and FUD a law enforcement officer is willing to spread because he is addicted to busting Marijuana users.

America Must Wean Law Enforcement From Their Marijuana Arrest Addiction

Taxation not Prohibition!

Police Waste Time & Money on Prohibition

Sacramento Sheriff McGinness says Marijuana is a herb, one of the best known US Army Generals Stanley McChrystal was caught smoking marijuana. Yet law enforcement continues its war on marijuana and marijuana consumers at a breakneck pace. In California it would seem that with the voters having twice voted for medical use of marijuana. That law enforcement might get the picture. But no, they continue their war on marijuana, business as usual.

One of the things that amazes me is, marijuana growers must be super athletes. They walk into their marijuana patches, that law enforcement need to be flown in and out of. Recently some brave officers tried to hike into a remote marijuana grow. The hike ended badly with two officers flown out by helicopter, one had serious injuries the other escaped with no major injury.

A deputy was injured as he fell off a cliff, pulling another deputy with him during a marijuana grow raid.

The deputy began sliding down the boulder. A second deputy sheriff, Reed Lovan, attempted to rescue him by grabbing the falling deputy’s backpack, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Department. The momentum of the falling deputy pulled both deputies downward, off of the 30 foot cliff, the KCSD reported. Lovan sustained a broken ankle and leg and a shoulder injury as a result of the fall.Sheriff's helicopter, Air Five, extracted Lovan from the ravine where he had fallen.
LINK

So now we have a officer that will be out of action for a while as he heals, among the other expenditures to pull up the remote herb bed. The cost of the prohibition of marijuana is skyrocketing and for what reason or cause? I think the answer is as easy as following the money. Our government has been spending billions of dollars protecting the all important profits of certain industries, at the dire expense of the American people.

These industries include cotton (Monsanto), health care, pharmaceutical, law enforcement, drug rehabs, and the prison industry all would lose a large amount of profit if marijuana is legalized.

The truly sad part is, as we push for fair policies on marijuana. The corpse (cooperates) are already lobbying and passing laws that will allow them to jail people for internet piracy. More non violent criminals imprisoned to fill the pockets of the rich, all at the peoples expense. It will cost us not only tax monies, but it will further the suffering of our families that are broken apart for the profits of the elite's. We need to get the corpse out of our political offices, or we will never again know any freedom!

During Debate Sheriff says Marijuana is a Herb!

There is a long standing argument over whether marijuana is a drug or a herb. Today Sheriff McGinness of Sacramento stated, while debating Judge Gray, that marijuana is a herb!

McGinness said he thinks people will avoid taxes by growing more at home."An herb that's relatively easy to grow -- people who are going to make regular purchase of it are going to find a way to do so without paying taxes. I just believe that to be the case," McGinness said.
LINK

Mr McGinness you accidentally let the truth slip out, you and the rest of America's law enforcement have been busting your fellow citizens for possessing and growing herbs! If that was not bad enough now you ask Californians to keep the prohibition so you will not lose your favorite past time, busting weed growers for fun and profit!

So there you have it in the words of the Sacramento Sherriff McGinniss Marijuana is not a drug, but a herb!

Judge Gray Debates Sheriff McGinness Topic Weed

When it came to facts Judge Gray was really terrorizing Sheriff McGinness over the effects legalization of marijuana would have on California. Where Judge Gray cites his facts the Sheriff resorts to opinions and speculation of his own rather than any type of researched data. Once again the MSM is spreading FUD, in the form of the non-facts from law enforcement about marijuana.

The two law enforcement figures offered competing views today in a Sacramento debate over the November initiative to legalize marijuana beyond current medical use, allow small residential cultivation and permit local governments to tax and regulate pot sales.

While the retired judge cited a state Board of Equalization estimate that legal pot sales could generate $1.3 billion in total tax revenues in California, McGinness argued that the initiative is flawed and may actually create new black market for untaxed marijuana.

"I think the revenue to be gained is likely negligible," the McGinness said.

LINK

A ridiculous statement Mr Sheriff, why would anybody go to the trouble to find black market marijuana to purchase when they could buy quality weighed marijuana at a local store or Weedmart. That would be like fearing a black market of home brewed beer would ruin the ability to tax legal beer. Another example would be tobacco and its taxes, the state profits more than it loses to the black market, and so it would be with marijuana and its Taxation!

Mr Sheriff you were debating a bad position and replying to cited facts with improvisation and personal opinion is not a proper way to debate an argument. Judge Gray was the lawn mower and your ass the grass.

To me the best part of legalization is I would no longer hear of law enforcemets kicking in doors, intimidating at gun point, aresting, shooting people and or their pets over a safe herb that man has used medicinally and recreationally for over 4,000 years.

Biggest Drug Bust = The Herb Marijuana

I could not resist the phrase the Biggest Bust, and posted the appropriate picture.

This bust would be insignificant if not for this claim, North Little Rock police described it as one of the biggest drug busts in the city’s history. This struck a raw nerve as I feel that Americans need to be taught that marijuana is not a drug and was never a drug. Marijuana is a plant that best fits into the category of a Herb or more specifically a medicinal herb. Marijuana contains a small percentage of the psychoactive compound THC. A drug would be extracted THC or synthesized THC like Marinol 100% THC, and Marinol is a legal prescription drug.

Now lets examine the rest of the article;

North Little Rock narcotics officers and sheriff’s deputies from Pulaski and Saline counties took part in the raid which began as a two-month undercover investigation in North Little Rock.

We see that this big Herb bust cost taxpayers for not only 2 months of police work, but also had Sheriff's and or Deputies from two counties at the scene. This is not only costing taxpayers money but depriving them of law enforcement time to work other more serious cases.

“As you can see, this is a significant bust, and it will make a difference in Pulaski County just by getting this much dope off the street,” North Little Rock Police Chief Danny Bradley said today.

Will this really change anything in Pulaski county, my bet would be no. I say this because the networks for dealing are still in place and the buyers still have a want to to use marijuana. One unexpected results of cutting the supply of marijuana is it pushes people towards buying other street drugs dealers may be selling.

North Little Rock police spokesman Sgt. Terry Kuykendall, a former narcotics investigator, said the largest prior marijuana bust he could remember was about 300 pounds seized in 2000.

Busting 300 lbs did not stop people from pedaling pot in Pulaski county as seen from Sgt. Kuykendall statement.

The Brag List:
Officers seized 615 pounds of marijuana, $23,000 in cash and six guns in a raid Sunday afternoon at a southern Pulaski County business.

So they got 615 pounds of a Herb that should never have been outlawed, six guns and $23,000 dollars. How many guns did the officers bring to the arrest? How many officers were present to make one arrest? How many man hrs went into the two month long investigation? How much will the prosecution and court costs be? How much will the prison time cost? What will the total overall cost be for the biggest drug bust in BF Egypt really be when Mr. Green is a free man once again?

Bradley estimated the marijuana had a wholesale value of about $2 million, but states that he hasn’t calculated what the street value of that would be.
LINK

In my humble opinion, we will all be much better off when marijuana is Taxed and Regulated as any other business. We are all paying a dear price for this preponderous game of keeping the holy profits of health care and the pharmaceuticals companies protected from competition of medicinal herbs.

Update:
The seizure came after a two-month joint investigation with the Saline County Sheriff's Office. Kuykendall said North Little Rock narcotics investigators are deputized to work throughout Pulaski County, which is why they were able to conduct the raid outside of city limits.
LINK

It might have been even more costly than I first suspected.

Medical Marijuana Denvers Million Dollar Baby

The city of Denver Colorado brought in over a Million dollars of tax in just five months. Numbers like this are what it is going to take to bring an end to marijuana prohibition. What City would say no to over two million dollars a year of extra tax monies! Now this is only the taxes from medical marijuana, there is still a huge amount of black market marijuana going untaxed in Denver!

In Denver it has resulted in an extra million dollars of sales tax revenue!

According to reports from December to April in those five months the city collected $ 1.023.308.67 from various medical marijuana businesses scattered around the city!

In March the city collected $ 226.492.5 the highest reported collection to date.

Smoking medical marijuana has become quite popular with the residents of Colorado.....And the stiff opponents of the herb. Are now seeing the benefits of legalizing the plant!

LINK

While Colorado is starting to profit from the common sense approach to medical marijuana, California voters are taking the next step, legalizing recreational use of marijuana. In California one Gubernatorial Candidate Meg Whitman has said she would not sign any bill to legalize marijuana. It would seem Meg has other plans on how to rescue California from its budget blues, does she plan to unload all the states assets on Ebay? The sale of state owned utilities and other assets to private industry allowing the elite's to profit, it is a common practice.

5,500lbs Marijuana to Go Up In Smoke

Authorities found 5,500 pounds of marijuana last week in Cook County Illinois, the Sheriff stated that he planned today, Monday June 21, to get a court order to have the marijuana incinerated. Marijuana activist say that would be a waste of the medicinal herb and are asking that if the marijuana tested to be safe that it be donated for medical marijuana use.

Not everyone is high on the idea of burning 5,500 pounds of seized pot.

"Incinerating it is a waste," said Lisa Lange, who smokes marijuana to ease her degenerative osteoarthritis symptoms the Sun-Times reports.
LINK

There is little chance of the 5,500 pounds of marijuana being donated for medicinal marijuana, Illinois has not passed a MMJ law as of yet.

I have always thought, that police should donate seized marijuana to local dispensaries or compassion clubs. I decided to do a Google search, to see if police have ever donated confiscated marijuana. From my Google search results the answer is no. I found these three donations of marijuana;

On Friday, employees at a Goodwill store in Marietta opened a donated water jug and found about found four bags of marijuana that together equal about a pound. Police say it has a street value of around $1,500 but because this was an anonymous donation, there's really no way of telling who or where the pot came from

"If anybody would like to come in and claim this "cooler," which is probably an antique, we would love to have them come in and we'll be more than happy to try and get that cooler returned to them," Marietta Police Capt. Jeff Waite said.

LINK

Boulder Police are trying to determine who made an odd donation: two pounds of marijuana.

The bag of pot was found inside a clothing donation bin outside a Barnes & Noble bookstore in the 2900 block of Pearl Street Thursday.Volunteers collecting the donations came across a bag with a green, leafy sabstance [sic] and called police, according to Sarah Huntley, spokeswoman for the Boulder Police Dept.
LINK

Police Donate 25 Pounds of Weed to Prisoners in Fruit Crate

Prisoners at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Segovia Unit were in for a treat when they received a donated fruit crate from the Edinburg Police Department. Among a variety of fruits
prisoners came across 25 pounds of weed, marijuana, cannabis, or whatever the kids call it these days, when they unpacked the crate in the facility's kitchen on last week.
LINK

It is not surprising that police have never donated marijuana that they have confiscated for any charitable use. They are acting on orders to stamp this viscous plant out of existence. Corporate law makers have given the OK to use deadly force in family homes, if marijuana is suspected to be there. The same corporate law makers have enacted law that makes marijuana grow busts so profitable to departments, it has been said that US law enforcement is addicted to marijuana arrests.

The elites have worked hard to make war on cannabis consumers and to protect all their holy profits from health care and pharmaceutical drugs. They do not want to chance loosing any money to MMJ or see our culture turn back to the herbal gardens for many medicinal needs. We should have a choice as to how we are medicated, whether to take pharmaceutical drugs or to use medicinal herbs. There is no excuse for the people to suffer so the elite can make record profits each year.

Just Say No to Meg Whitman

Meg Whitman asks the voters to elect her to office, she states once elected she will not sign the marijuana Bill into law. This is very frustrating that she could so boldly defy the will the very voters she is asking to elect her to office.

She is protecting the vast fortunes that the elites have invested in health care, pharmaceutical drugs, prisons and drug rehabs while ignoring the general population and the consensus of the voters. In a capitalist society the protection of their Holy Profits is the first duty of all the Elites. Government has been a means for corporations to achieve even higher profit for many years, not a government for the people.

The answer was shocking. I already knew that Meg Whitman opposed the marijuana legalization initiative. What I didn’t know is that she plans to NOT SIGN the initiative if it passes. That’s right – if she wins the election in November, and voters approve the initiative, she plans on defying the will of the voters and not signing the initiative into law. Her campaign staff told me that they don’t care how much the voters want marijuana legalization, and it doesn’t matter how large of a margin of victory it obtains in the election; she will act as if it never happened.

I can already see it now; the initiative passes and Meg Whitman says, “It’s illegal under federal law, so my hands are tied.” I would like to remind Meg Whitman well ahead of time THAT HER JOB IS TO BE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA, not the Governor of the federal government. If she was a true conservative, she would cling to state sovereignty and state’s rights, and not cling to false propaganda she heard growing up.

It is very frightening that politician are telling the people we no longer work for you but instead work for the Holy Profits of all the Elites. The fact that another millionaire denies marijuana a chance to legality should be no surprise to Americans, just another elite putting profit above all else.

Just say no to Meg Whitman

and Vote for;

High Cost of Seizing 1.500 Marijuana Plants

In an attempt to secure the Holy Profits of the Elites who have interests in Pharmaceuticals. Officers are once again spending tens of thousands of American tax dollars harvesting the cancer curing herb marijuana.

This investigation took two months of police work, plus the time and cost to remove the 1,500 cancer curing marijuana plants. Add to this the cost of vehicles cars, trucks, atv's and a helicopter used to removed the plants.

But wait there is more now the cost of reports and storing evidence needs to be added to the total cost of the investigation.

Then to top it all off:
No arrests have been made, but authorities say it appears people had camped at the sites.

Thats a lot of man hrs and a awful high cost to the taxpayers to seize some medicinal herbs that could have been used to cure or prevent cancer.

The drug bust has been in the works for about two months. Detectives say a citizen spotted some of the plants and called police.

The largest site was found just north of Socorro. The brush was so thick, a National Guard helicopter was used Saturday to carry most of the plants and equipment out of the area.

Taxing marijuana would help eliminate huge costs that are an everyday part of prohibition and would allow the people a safer and healthier life.

1,100 Herbal Plants Known to Cure Cancer Seized

Once again the world is made into a much safer place as officers seize 1,100 marijuana plants. Marijuana is a dangerous medicinal herb known to cure and prevent cancers. The elites who own pharmaceutical companies will rest better tonight knowing that officers took these medicinal herbs off the street so they will not endanger their Holy Profits.
Taxation not Prohibition!

Xiao Xia Ting, 31, who was determined to be an illegal alien, was charged with theft of services and unlawful growing of marijuana. Authorities seized more than 1,100 pot plants with an estimated street value of $2 million. They were being grown in several rooms of a Cold Spring house using what police described as “$10,000 worth of high-tech equipment.”

While the FDA has allowed the drugs, Marinol, Dronabinal, Naboline, and the Brits have have sanctioned the use of Sativex, marijuana in its less potent natural state is illegal. The FDA, ONDCP and our Drug Czar say marijuana has no medicinal value, in reality it is very valuable to the population of the Earth as a safe cancer cure preventative, pain reducer, and to many other uses to list. But as a herb that can be easily grown it would cost big pharma $billions. If we were grow our own medicinal herbs it would be so much healthier than eating pills. So what the FDA, ONDCP and our Drug Czar means by no medicinal value is no Holy Profits for the elites.

FDA Approves Carcinogens and Denies USA MMJ part 6

Every day more of our foods are being contaminated in a manic push for profits for some of the richest families on earth. We have seen that these elites show no compassion for other humans as their motivation is greed, greed for money and the power it buys.

Another threat to our food system right now comes from chemicals that are routinely being used in food production. Now the President's cancer report panel came out with an amazing report recently that was issued that talked about the threat of the roughly 80,000 chemicals that are being let loose - the man made chemicals let loose into our environment - and of those 80,000 only a few hundred have ever been tested for their safety.

In China there are over 200 million farmers so it's very hard to regulate what's going on on their farms. There's very little regulation on how they can use pesticides or antibiotics. The farms tend to be near industrial areas so there's high levels of heavy metal contamination of the fields. This is a problem. And it's a problem because this food is coming into the United States largely untested.

The reform of the Food and Drug Administration is absolutely essential because it is responsible for the food safety of 80% of the food that we eat. And right now, that agency does not have the power to recall contaminated food, does not have the power to test for it, and is essentially toothless. More than half of US food processing facilities have gone more than five years without ever being visited by the FDA. And during the last Bush administration, the number of FDA inspections declined. A 2009 study by the FDA's own Inspector General found that of 40 food products, the FDA had no ability to trace back the ingredients of 35 - 35 out of 40, they have no idea where the stuff came from. And 60%, roughly, of the facilities processing food were not in compliance with any kind of FDA record keeping that might help trace where their ingredients came from. Again, this is a disaster waiting to happen. The FDA Modernization bill that is stuck in the Senate will increase inspections, require processors to identify potential risks, and require imported food to meet the same standards as that produced in the United States. It will enable testing of the food for dangerous pathogens and it will give the FDA the power to order the recall - mandatory recall of contaminated products.
LINK

The all powerful FDA has no power to recall foods, only the power to allow pharmaceutical drugs to be sold.

The Obama administration organized a food safety working group last year that made recommendations for reducing foodborne illnesses, which sicken an estimated 76 million people in the United States each year and kill 5,000 according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The legislation needs to help beef up the FDA, the report recommends -- but the FDA also must develop a better system for overseeing food safety.

With all his talk of safety Obama has recently made a statement that I find mind boggling.

The Obama administration is attempting to reassure Americans that seafood from the Gulf of Mexico is safe to eat amid the BP-Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster. President Obama discussed food safety yesterday during a trip to the Gulf. "Let me be clear: Seafood from the Gulf today is safe to eat," Obama said.

FDA also says:

The sample collection will target primarily seafood processors who buy seafood directly from the harvester. Monitoring this first step in the distribution chain will help to keep any potentially contaminated seafood from consumers.

That prompts a question: Given the FDA’s struggles in recent years, will the agency have the necessary resources and adequate regulatory muscle to keep contaminated seafood away from consumers?
LINK

The FDA, the agency that has kept Marijuana a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance does not have the power to recall contaminated food! This is what happens when we allow industry to regulate its self, regulations are for profit not for the care and safety of the public.

Big pharmaceutical companies fear the cancer fighting and other medicinal qualities of marijuana. They fear it, as we could be going to our own herb patch rather than the medicine cabinet, they fear loses of their Holy profits.

$20 M of cancer curing herb taken off the streets

Chicago is much safer after law enforcement took 224 bales of the cancer curing herb marijuana off the streets. Once again we see an attack on a important medicinal herb which cures and prevents cancer. Marijuana is a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, yet Marinol 100% pure THC the psychoactive component of marijuana is sold by Pharmacies everyday! In the natural plant form or dried marijuana is extremely dangerous and has no medicinal value.

The Cook County sheriff announced Friday one of the department's biggest marijuana busts ever -- a seizure of 5,525 pounds, worth about $20 million and very soon to go up in smoke.

"It was 224 bales of taped packages stacked in the residence," Dart told reporters. Moreno was "someone who was involved at a level higher than just dealing.

"Whether he was at the top is hard to say at this time."

More certain are plans for the cache itself.

"We will retain about 10,000 grams of it for trial," said Kevin Ruel, the department's deputy chief of special investigations. "We will solicit a court order today to have the rest incinerated safely."

The Law is making it hard for the people to treat their ailments with medicinal herbs by calling plants drugs. The law is being manipulated to force the world to turn to prescription drugs for the profits for a few big pharmaceutical companies who own the FDA, rather than allowing us to use plants that have known healing or medicinal qualities. Its time for Taxation Not Prohibition for a healthier world.

FDA Approves Carcinogens and Denies USA MMJ part 5

I read an article that deals with the FDA & USDA, since it is on food safety I thought I'd share it. The whole article is well worth reading, here are a few excerpts;

In 1981 we had President Reagan take office and bring a new philosophy to government, which is that things are best when industry regulates itself. And the Reagan administration deliberately began cutting staffing levels at the FDA, which is responsible for most of our food, cutting staff at the USDA, which is responsible for the safety of meat and poultry products, and the Bush administration - the first Bush administration - continued this trend and the USDA and the FDA essentially became "captured" regulatory agencies: agencies staffed by industry representatives and agencies very much serving private interests and NOT the public interest.

USDA did an investigation last year that found that USDA and our own Agricultural Marketing Service had bought more than 70 million pounds of spent hen meat. Now, spent hen meat are from egg-laying hens that are so old and so decrepit, something has to be done with them, and traditionally, what's been done with spent hens is they've been rendered into pet food or they've been rendered into compost. Well, the USDA came up with a brilliant idea. They would buy all this meat from the egg-producers and what would they do with it? They would serve it to the nation's school children. Now this is meat that Campbell's Soup and McDonalds and KFC refuses to buy. This is meat that is more likely than any other poultry to be riddled with different pathogens because these hens are in terrible shape and quite sick by the time that they are dead, and in 2006, our own government agency purchased one-third of the spent hen meat in the United States to serve to school children.

To tell the truth I was rather surprised when Google-ing, I did not find much information on spent chickens. A few web stories on battered chickens describing the inhumane treatment of chickens by commercial egg producers.

I did run into one our favorite people playing games with the worlds food supply, in this case the farming of chicken is being heavily restricted away from the family farms to increase commercial sales.

Clouds can have ‘silver linings’ the adage goes, and Bird Flu seems to be no exception. While much of the world trembles in panic and fear over an as-yet-non-existent human-to-human mutation of the Avian Flu or H5N1 virus, and while most worry what to do to protect themselves and their families, certain people are doing quite nicely in the situation.

Donald Rumsfeld and other major stock holders of Gilead Sciences or Roche Inc., the marketers of the much-hyped Tamiflu (see previous articles, ‘Is Tamiflu another Pentagon Hoax? ;‘Bird Flu: A Corporate Bonanza for the Biotech Industry’) are reaping nice gains, as sales of the medication are booming thanks to promotion by the Bush and Blair governments.

Agribusiness companies stand to reap huge gains in the event that scientists at Cambridge University and elsewhere are able to replace the entire world chicken population with genetically-engineered chicks allegedly resistant to H5N1 virus.

Little-noticed beneficiaries of the current Avian Flu scare, however, are the giant agribusiness chicken producers based in the United States, who claim ‘their’ chickens are safe. Their sales are booming and all indications are that Avian Flu, paradoxically, has come like a Godsend to their corporate balance sheets. Are they also responsible for breeding unsanitary conditions and exporting the product worldwide causing disease, illness and even deaths?

The industrialization of chicken-raising and slaughtering in the USA, which is known as ‘factory farming’ is a process whose inner workings are unknown to most people. Better it remained so some say. Were we to know, we likely would never again eat a Chicken McNugget or a KFC chicken dinner, both of which are supplied, by the way, by Tyson.

Increasing Asian demand for imported chicken products from the United States today, however, has a special significance. It means three to four giant factory farm operations are opening a potentially huge new market for chicken products in Asia.

Asia today is home to seven billion chickens, fully 40% of the world total. US chicken giants like Tyson Foods, ConAgra and Perdue Farms have literally been drooling at the prospect of breaking into the vast market in Asia, Japan and China for several years. Bird Flu is giving them that chance and more.

Japan imports some 70% of all chicken its population consumes. The Bird Flu scare resulted in a Japanese ban on chicken imports from Thailand and China. The benefactors have been USA and Brazil chicken exporters according to the FAO. And that means, above all, Tyson Foods, Perdue, ConAgra.

The Truth About Tamiflu The Atlantic (December 10, 2009)

Two months ago, we pointed out in our story on flu in The Atlantic that the antiviral drug Tamiflu might not be as effective or safe as many patients, doctors, and governments think. The drug has been widely prescribed since the first cases of H1N1 flu surfaced last spring, and the U.S. government has spent more than $1.5 billion stockpiling it since 2005 as part of the nation’s pandemic preparedness plan.

Tamiflu was never proven as a cure for flu; so why did governments around the world invest so much—on the order of $3 billion since the emergence of H1N1 last spring, according to investment bank, JP Morgan—in a drug that appears to do so little.

Nor was its safety truly analyzed; According to an FDA spokesperson, side effects may include potentially fatal heart problems.

The answer may lie in the politics of disease. Far from a commercial success when it was initially approved by the FDA in 1999, Tamiflu’s fortunes began to look up in 2003, after the SARS outbreak and the emergence of bird flu. Then Hurricane Katrina hit. In the wake of criticism over its handling of the disaster in New Orleans, the Bush Administration announced a multi-billion-dollar pandemic and bioterrorism preparedness strategy, which included stockpiling millions of doses of Tamiflu.

Once again Donald Rumsfeld is making his fortunes off the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) of disease by pedaling snake oil to cure the plague. One of the big difference of our modern medicine frauds have is mainstream media support, and a medical system that believe a pill or a shot for any and everything! Everyone runs to purchase the shot because they don't want to chance getting sick or dying.

If we could grow a garden of medicinal herbs to replace a cabinet full of pills it would really change medicine and health. With the high unemployment rate it is time to grow herbs and healthy foods to prevent costly medical trap being laid apon us.

I was recently told not to call marijuana a medicinal herb, that it is a drug.

Well it is not a drug it is a plant, it contains compounds that could be refined or synthesized to make drugs. There are many plants that contain such compounds opium poppy is another such plant, in its natural form it is a very helpful herb in its refined state it become the highly addictive drug heroin, and it has many synthetic forms which is oxy-contin.

So drugs are legal and many medicinal herbs are being labeled as drugs and people are arrested for growing and possessing these medicinal herbs, poppies, peyote, coca, marijuana and the next one that might become illegal is salvia.

FDA Approves Carcinogens and Denies USA MMJ part 4

Today we will look at another carcinogen the FDA has allowed to be used on the United States food supply glyphosate aka Round Up . Since it was discovered to be detrimental to plants in 1970 glyphosate has become one of the most used agricultural products.

Although the Roundup trademark is registered with the US Patent Office and still extant, the patent has expired. Glyphosate is marketed in the US and worldwide in different solution strengths under many tradenames: Roundup, Buccaneer, Razor Pro, Genesis Extra II, Roundup Pro Concentrate, Rodeo, Aquaneat , and Aquamaster. These products may contain other ingredients, causing them to have different effects.

Glyphosate is the most used herbicide in the USA. In the US, 5-8 million pounds are used every year on lawns and yards and 85-90 million pounds are used annually in US agriculture.

Scientific fraud

On two occasions the United States Environmental Protection Agency has caught scientists deliberately falsifying test results at research laboratories hired by Monsanto to study glyphosate. In the first incident involving Industrial Biotest Laboratories (IBT), an EPA reviewer stated after finding "routine falsification of data" that it was "hard to believe the scientific integrity of the studies when they said they took specimens of the uterus from male rabbits". In the second incident of falsifying test results in 1991, the owner of the lab (Craven Labs), and three employees were indicted on 20 felony counts, the owner was sentenced to 5 years in prison and fined 50,000 dollars, the lab was fined 15.5 million dollars and ordered to pay 3.7 million in restitution.
LINK

It is interesting the EPA caught the fraudulent reports and not the FDA. I will not say the FDA is fully at fault here, as research companies manipulate test results all the time to get the desired results. Companies also hire writers to make negative test results appear positive. I do think the FDA knows this is being done but turns a blind eye on the use of dangerous carcinogens to keep the status quo.

A recent study by eminent oncologists Dr. Lennart Hardell and Dr. Mikael
Eriksson of Sweden, has revealed clear links between one of the
world's biggest selling herbicide, glyphosate, to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form
of cancer.

In the study published in the 15 March 1999 Journal of American Cancer
Society, the researchers also maintain that exposure to glyphosate
'yielded increased risks for NHL.' They stress that with the rapidly increasing use
of glyphosate since the time the study was carried out, 'glyphosate
deserves further epidemiologic studies.'

Monsanto have already received permits for a
threefold increase in herbicide residues on genetically engineered
soybeans in Europe and the U.S., up from 6 parts per million (PPM) to 20 PPM.
LINK

Now we see that not only is the FDA allowing carcinogens into our food chain, they as well are allowing the increase in the amounts of carcinogens used on our foods.

Our food chain is riddled with poisonous GMO products, quit consuming dairy products and boycott corn.Recent reports say that 60% to 80% of the corn in the US is GMO. I encourage everyone to boycott corn products while buying your groceries.

Lets send a message to Wall Street "No GMO's for dinner" Boycott Corn!

All these sanctioned carcinogens and yet, the FDA will not remove the safe non-toxic medicinal herb marijuana from its position as a Schedule One Controlled Substance. By not doing so our scientists may not investigate its astounding medicinal properties. There is BIG money made by keeping marijuana illegal and it has nothing to do with pot being dangerous to personal health, nor does marijuana cause violence as has been claimed.

Legalizing marijuana would give everyone the ability to make and use herbal remedies for thousands of common ailments, from mental illness to preventing and curing cancers. Marijuana would cost our health care system untold billions of dollars as people learn to use this healing herb to cure and prevent disease!

Linux and Tethering a BlackBerry

My adventures in using a BlackBerry phone as a modem for my laptop;

The adventure began when my dial up provider decided to force a upgrade to their not so fast, very over priced broad band internet. I have been wanting high speed internet for years. I looked into satellite but download restrictions and throttling turned me away from that.

My town even tried their hand at being a ISP and had wireless broadband for a while. It was discontinued when APT offered their Broadband here, something smells fishy there!

This was what APT offered us when Broadband first came to town.
  • 64K with 1GB of transfer per month for $29.95 a month
  • 128K with 2GB of data transfer per month for $49.95 a month
  • 256K with 3GB of data transfer per month for $69.95 a month
  • 384K with 4GB of data transfer per month for $89.95 a month
  • 512K with 5GB of data transfer per month for $109.95 a month
  • 512K with 10GB of data transfer per month for $199.95 a month
  • with a $10 per gig overage
Some towns are still paying those rates!
They have upgraded their plans, but the service is not very good at this time.

  • 64K with 2GB of data transfer per month for $29.95 a month
  • 256K with 10GB of data transfer per month for $49.95 a month
  • 512K with 20GB of data transfer per month for $59.95 a month
  • 1Mb with 30GB of data transfer per month for $79.95 a month
  • 4Mb with 40GB of data transfer per month for $99.95 a month

The 1Mb service tier is currently available in select areas dependent upon local infrastructure.
The 4Mb service tier is currently available in Petersburg and Wrangell.

+ $5 a gig for overage charges

Talking with my neighbors it seems APT still have lots of bugs to work out, and the caps scared me as we use 10 gigs on dial up! So I decided to use a cell phone as a modem, it ends up costing us just under $100 a month with unlimited long distance & unlimited data plans!

It was slightly difficult to get the BlackBerry 8830 to work with Linux on my laptop.

Thibaut Colar makes a handy app that makes it fairly easy to tether your BB with a USB data cable (came with the BB) to your Linux laptop. If you need to tether a BB to a Linux box I suggest you give Berry4all - Easy Tethering for Blackberry on Linux a try!

Now I can have internet any where I have bars. lol

Edit: Windows and Mac are supported on BlackBerry, I would assume that it would be simple as popping in the CD that came with the BB 8830 world edition. Be warned not all BB's are advertised as being tetherable!
