When the whole truth is not allowed in court

When I think of court in the United States I picture the bailiff with the Bible in hand asking "do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God". Now I would think that it would be illegal to give a testimony that was out of context or one that omitted a part of the truth.

In reality the ideal of telling the whole truth has gone to the wayside and defendants are censured from telling the truth by the very judges that preside over these cases. Our legal system is full of flawed laws some were worded poorly others were cleverly worded to the prosecutions advantage.

One of the first examples that comes to mind:

Charlie Lynch is the medical marijuana dispensary owner whose business, fully legal under California state law, was raided by federal agents in 2007.
At his federal trial last year, Lynch was not allowed to mention the legal status of medical marijuana under California state law while conducting his defense. The predictable-and outrageous-verdict? Lynch was found guilty of distributing pot and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison.

A recent case involved a WA man who was wheelchair bound:

Despite a spirited fight by Kurtz's lawyers to prove that the crippled man needed the pot for his medical condition, Thurston County Superior Court Judge Carol Murphy wasn't having it. She prevented the defense from presenting evidence like a doctor's note that said his condition was indeed pot worthy, because it wasn't obtained until after he got popped for the plants back in March.

Now here is another example that our legal system is Going Rogue:

Roger Christie is a minister and founder of the THC Ministry in Hawaii, a church that provided cannabis to its members as a religious sacrament for 10 years until it was raided this year by the DEA. Christie was arrest and charged with possession and sale of marijuana with 13 others on Hawaii's Big Island and denied bail.

Roger Christie:
"I only know of one other person in jail in the THC Ministry. This member of ours lost his case because the Judge refused to hear his religious defense. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth was NOT allowed to be heard in that court".

So I present the facts that our courts are omitting the truth if it could derail the Governments case, they are denying jurors the right to hear the whole truth.

The highest and most important function of the jury is not, as many think, to dispense punishment to fellow citizens guilty of breaking the law, but rather to protect fellow citizens from tyrannical prosecutions and bad laws imposed by a power-hungry government.

Since our Government is refusing to play nice, it is up to us to force their hand and jury nullification is one way to send our message home!

If you have doubts about the fairness of a law, you have the right and obligation to find someone innocent even though they have actually broken the law! John Adams, our second president, had this to say about the juror: "It is not only his right but his duty...to find the verdict according to his own best understanding, judgment, and conscience, though in direct opposition to the direction of the court."

Now imagine hundreds maybe thousands of jury trials, with jurors finding in favor of defendants, it is time to make this a reality!
