Many Nations are banning Monsanto and for good reason the health of their citizens.

Countries which have bans on Monsanto’s GMO’s are: Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, and Switzerland. Haiti is in good company!. Monsanto’s monopoly is firmly entrenched within the US government:

1. US Patent Office: this where the problem began, in allowing a patent on life. Monsanto’s seeds are protected under an ‘Intellectual Property’ patent; the seeds are good for one season. When a farmer buys Monsanto seed, he also signs the Technology Agreement that stipulates he may not collect seed and replant it.

2. FDA (US Food & Drug Administration)*: Many people rely on the FDA to determine the safety of food or a product. The FDA is corrupt, particularly within the realm of GMOs. The only “testing” for safety that is required is for the GMO producer to submit a self authored report on the new GMO’s safety.

4. *USDA (United States Department of Agriculture)*: This government body determines whether a plant is safe to grow. The USDA and the co-owner of the “terminator” patent promised not to commercialize it in 1999, however, in 2001, they signed a commercialization agreement. Seven years later, Monsanto bought out the co-owner and is now partnered with the USDA for the “Terminator” patent. Food can be used as a weapon.

Remember the USDA is business partners with Monsanto. This is where your tax dollars are going. We are paying for our government to poison us.

Alaska Medical Marijuana Law Needs a Few Changes

Alaska Medical Marijuana (MMJ) the good the bad and the ugly. At first glance it would seem Alaska's MMJ laws are fair and just:

SUMMARY: Fifty-eight percent of voters approved Ballot Measure #8 on November 3, 1998. The law took effect on March 4, 1999. It removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess written documentation from their physician advising that they "might benefit from the medical use of marijuana." Patients diagnosed with the following illnesses are afforded legal protection under this act: cachexia; cancer; chronic pain; epilepsy and other disorders characterized by seizures; glaucoma; HIV or AIDS; multiple sclerosis and other disorders characterized by muscle spasticity; and nausea. Other conditions are subject to approval by the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services. Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than one ounce of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature. The law establishes a confidential state-run patient registry that issues identification cards to qualifying patients.

But there are a few bad and ugly parts to the law;

First problem a physician must examine patients in person.

This can be more difficult than you might think as many of us living in rural Alaska never see true physicians as our contact is with PA's (physicians assistants), it has been over 7 yrs since I have seen a Dr (Physician). Though I have had regular contact with my PA who prescribes my daily prescription medications.

I have a real problem that it is legal for PA's to prescribe medications with known dangerous side effects, many of which a person can easily over dose on. Then there is the fact with so many prescription drugs there can be dangerous interactions.

Yet our PA's can not prescribe marijuana, which is not a drug but is one of the safest and most highly prized medicinal herbs ever known in the history of mankind. Marijuana can not OD a patient as it is non toxic has no known dangerous side effects, and MMJ is not known to have any dangerous drug interactions.

To prescribe MMJ the physician must personally examine and have a bona fide physician-patient relationship. This is extremely strange as PA's use video and internet to contact physicians for diagnosis and help with choosing prescription drugs for their patients on a regular basis. In rural Alaska many people have their court cases tried by telephone as travel is very expensive with many rural Alaskans living in areas that can only be accessed by plane or boat!

Washington's newest improvement on the medical marijuana program expands the number of health care providers who are legally allowed to recommend medical marijuana to patients, according to its sponsor, state Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles (D-Seattle).

Until now, only medical doctors could legally authorize patients to use cannabis medicinally in Washington State. Senate Bill 5798, Kohl-Welles, now extends the ability to authorize the medical use of marijuana to other licensed health professionals who are authorized to prescribe controlled substances.

The next problem I see with our current medical marijuana laws is the limits on the amounts a patient may possess or grow. If someone was seriously using MMJ as a cancer cure as documented in the famous Phoenix Tears by Rick Simpson. There is no way they could legally grow or posses enough under Alaska's MMJ restrictions; 1 oz. and six plants only 3 of which may be mature!

Now to add insult to injury Alaskans under the Raven Act may have up to 25 plants or up to a ounce of weed in their homes. Why should a medical patient be restricted to less when their needs are for medicating themselves rather than those just smoking for recreation?

Now the limits on MMJ leave patients in short supply and this puts them into a Black Market with prices soaring to $500 a ounce and higher in Alaska!

Come on Alaskans lets tell our legislatures that we want fair medical marijuana laws and safe access for patients to purchase fairly priced MMJ. It is ridiculous to expect caregivers to grow MMJ to cure our cancer after it is diagnosed thus allowing the cancer to grow while your plants grow. What do you say to your oncologist, please wait 6 months to start my chemotherapy, my MMJ crop is not ready yet!

Alaska lets get it together and make our Medical Marijuana laws work. So MMJ laws will truly help our loved ones in desperate need of the only non toxic cancer cure! Contact your lawmakers and let them know Marijuana is not only the safest but is the most important Medicinal Herb ever known to mankind. And they need to address the above mentioned problems to give Alaskan MMJ patients safe and fair access to their medicinal herb.

As many Digg users know you can not Digg over 200 stories a day or you will be permanently banned from Digg. So what is the purpose of having friends with thousands on their friends list? They will not be able to read all their friends Diggs and most likely would not know that you submitted a story. At first I was reluctant to remove anyone from my Friends list. Then I started enjoying the fact that my Friends Activity was showing more Stories that were of interest to me. Now I Digg more of my friends stories and I no longer feel like Friends Activity is a spam machine!

In my opinion we should also be legalizing Peyote, as it has been used by Native Americans as a religious sacrament for thousands of years. Peyote is legal in most countries though in the USA where it grows naturally it is illegal! Law Enforcement: Meth Labs vs Marijuana Grows!

Years ago I watched a TV news interview with the Spokane county Sheriff explaining the problems of expense when busting meth labs. Basically he pointed out that meth labs are very seldom owned by the criminals and that there is little of worth to be confiscated from meth busts, then he went into comparing a meth lab bust to that of a marijuana grow. The growers quite often own their homes have nice vehicles, expensive toys, large amounts of cash and fat bank accounts that all become Police Property through confiscation.

To me the Sheriff was saying, marijuana growers are responsible people who pay their bills and save their money.

I found an article at The Spokesman Review, I think was the interview with the Spokane county Sheriff that was on the TV news. The Spokesman Review wants $2.95 just to read an archived web page, no wonder so many newspapers are going under!

On the other hand meth cooks who run small labs seldom own their home and are often quite poor. One would wonder how someone who can makes thousands of dollars worth of drugs in a few days has less money, than a grower who will take 4 to 6 months to grow a crop. The answer is addiction, one drug is very addicting and the other marijuana which is not. A lot of meth cooks use their own drug and do not cook more until they are out of drugs and money. The cooks then make another batch, and are thus living hand to mouth. This is not to say there are not large mafia and cartel labs, but those are not the garden variety everyday bust.

To make things even worse cops make deals with meth addicts to rat on growers in exchange for reduced sentencing and may even pay them as informants. It goes back to the statement "America Must Wean Law Enforcement From Their Marijuana Arrest Addiction"(@Norml). It should be a crime for Law Enforcement to use addicts as informers so they may arrest those who choose a safer non addicting herb over highly addictive narcotic prescription drugs or even alcohol.

Now, let's add a suspect that is standing there refusing your order to come out. What's the percentage of officers in this country that would go in and grab the suspect? I would say if not properly trained the percentage could be high. SAFETY is the most important factor when dealing with methamphetamine labs and users. Currently DEA is assisting agencies throughout the country with the investigation and removal of clandestine methamphetamine labs. We have to remember O.S.H.A. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations and the costs involved for properly tearing down and removing a clandestine methamphetamine lab.

The costs could range anywhere from $3,000 for a small lab to $100,000 for a super lab.

We read in the first paragraph the dangers of violence that meth users and makers pose to Police, Civilians, Community and even the users and makers own families. Yet in Washington State there is a saying on the streets "name three and you go free". Meaning if someone is busted for meth and they turn in three marijuana growers they go free, they might even become a paid informant! As you can see it is all about the money that a marijuana grow bust makes for the Department and not the publics safety!

While I was reading news at Digg.com, I came across an article on a quadriplegic that was busted for possession and growing of marijuana.

I did a Google search to see if I could find more details on the Mark Weiner case, and this story showed up instead.

Haring was 24 when a 1989 accident in Ohio left the trucker with a severe spinal injury and limited use of his arms and hands. He said he learned to treat his ailments with marijuana he grew himself, which he said was less harmful than the powerful prescription narcotics he used after the accident.

But Florida doesn't allow medicinal marijuana. Haring was charged with growing it in his home in 2007 and 2009. The Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office determined that Haring's medical condition is legitimate, so after his 2009 arrest it offered this deal: 90 days in jail and three years of drug offender probation.

But that also means three years of drug testing. Haring must go back to using prescription painkillers.

It is very frustrating to see a patient being induced into using narcotic pain killers because the Law will not allow for a nontoxic herbal remedy! Prohibition feeds the Pharmaceutical companies large windfalls of bonuses year after year for pain pills. Prohibition also feeds the Black Markets which puts the value of marijuana at about 50 to over 500 times the cost of growing and distribution of other agricultural products. Marijuana should cost somewhere between the price of frozen Spinach or that of highly taxed Tobacco, not $80 to over $500 an ounce!

This creates a dangerous situation much the same as the prohibition of alcohol which created Violent Gangsters like Al Cappone. Marijuana Prohibition is much worse, as marijuana is one the most highly prized medicinal herbs. Marijuana is also a known cancer inhibitor, something which is needed by so very people many today.

We all need to push for the taxation of marijuana nationwide for freedom of choice, safety, health and the sanity of all Americans!

MMJ An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

Every time I hear the saying "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" I can not help but think of Medical Marijuana. A little internet research shows Ben Franklin made this saying famous, though it seems it was around long before it became a famous Franklinism.

Fires were very dangerous threat to Philadelphians, so Franklin set about trying to remedy the situation. In 1736, he organized Philadelphia's Union Fire Company, the first in the city. His famous saying, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," was actually fire-fighting advice.

So Ben Franklin was not talking about disease at all. But the advice is still sound, in medicine we know that many diseases can be prevented much easier by proper diet rather than expensive surgeries later.

But what about cancer, we know that cancer can be cured by marijuana, so why not add it to our daily diet as preventative against the development of cancer. A recent article has been going around the web about THC the active psychotropical ingredient in MMJ destroys cancer brain tumors. So if marijuana is consumed on a regular basis it could prevent cancer.

THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, causes brain cancer cells to undergo a process called autophagy in which cells feed upon themselves, according to a study conducted by Guillermo Velasco and colleagues at Complutense University in Spain. Using mice designed to carry human brain cancer tumors, the researchers found that the growth of the tumors shrank when the animals received THC. The study also involved two patients with glioblastoma multiforme, a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. Both patients had been enrolled in a clinical trial designed to test THC's potential as a cancer therapy. The researchers used electron microscopes to analyze brain tissue taken before and after a 26- to 30-day THC treatment regimen. They found that THC eliminated the cancer cells while leaving healthy cells intact. In addition, in what they described as a "novel discovery," the specific signalling route by which the autophagy process unfolds was isolated.

As more evidence is accumulating that Marijuana can fight and reduce tumors logic tells us that it would prove a more effective preventative. Who would not rather consume small amounts of organically pure MMJ, rather than battle cancer through chemo, other prescription drugs and surgeries.

For the past 30 years, U.S. officials have willfully ignored clinical research indicating that marijuana can inhibit the growth of certain type of malignant tumors. However, the recent publication of a trio of clinical studies and a pair of scientific reviews have effectively blown the lid off "Cancergate," and revealed that pot’s medical value may be far greater than ever presumed.

This wasn’t always the case. In fact, the first ever experiment documenting pot’s anti-tumor effects took place in 1974 at the Medical College of Virginia at the behest of the U.S. government. The results of that study, immortalized in an August 18, 1974 Washington Post newspaper feature, were that "THC slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent."

Despite these favorable preliminary findings, U.S. government officials banished the study, and refused to fund any follow up research until conducting a similar – though secret – study in the mid-1990s. That study, conducted by the U.S. National Toxicology Program to the tune of $2 million concluded that mice and rats administered high doses of THC over long periods had greater protection against malignant tumors than untreated controls. However, rather than publicize their findings, government researchers shelved the results – which only became public one year later after a draft copy of its findings were leaked in 1997 to the journal AIDS Treatment News, which in turn forwarded the story to the national media.

I find the fact that so many states are re- allowing the use of the medicinal herb marijuana exciting. Though I'm afraid that all the states are allowing state and local Law Enforcement to harass and imprison their MMJ caregivers and MMJ patients. To further our problems are MD's are trained as pill pushers and have no formal training as herbalists or training in MMJ. The few Dr's that have studied and understand the medical benifits of MMJ are constantly harassed as they write to many prescriptons for a non toxic herbal remedy.

I keep bringing up the acronym FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) one specific example of this we are seeing is the Officer's stake out a compassion club and make the statement that they saw many people going in there that did not have a thing wrong with them. It would be nearly impossible to rebuke the statement, but it is easy to ridicule the statement. First it would seem that the Police Officers who make such a statement are diagnossing patients without a license to practice medicine, secondly what gives Law Enforcement the right to second guess trained Dr's?

The mainstream media loves hyping FUD that marijuana causes mental illness, particularly schizophrenia. It is a sad thing that we need to fact check everything that MSM states about cannabis / marijuana, but then we live in a society motivated by greed so profit out weighs truth.

Despite previous media claims to the contrary, researchers concluded:
“Although the onset of cannabis use disorder preceded the onset of illness in most patients, our findings suggest that age at onset of psychosis was not associated with cannabis use disorders. Previous studies implicating cannabis use disorders in schizophrenia may need to more comprehensively assess the relationship between cannabis use disorders and schizophrenia, and take into account the additional variables that we found associated with cannabis use disorders.”

Change.Gov ? Taxation of Marijuana

Not many Americans got to see or participate in the Change.Gov polls. At the time many of us were excited the "President of Change" wanted our opinions, what to change to better America. We answered, but did he respect the answers he received from America?

The first round of questions for the transition team's change.gov website came to a close at midnight. The question

""Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?"

is in the lead with 7,947 people liking this question, and 634 people not liking this question.

Overall the first round of questions generated a turnout of 978,947 votes on 10,303 questions from 20,462 people.

The Real Reason Obama Won’t Support Marijuana Legalization

Much has been made of the fact that a marijuana legalization question was ranked #1 when President-elect Obama opened his Change.gov website up to questions from the public. In an open vote, the public spoke loudly and clearly that marijuana reform was the very first issue that the new President should address. For our trouble, we’ve been rewarded with the sorriest excuse for an answer that Obama’s transition team could possibly have provided:

A: President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana.
Care to elaborate? You see, we all knew what the answer was. The point was that we all wanted to know why. As frustrating and insulting as it is to witness an important matter brushed casually to the side without explanation, Obama’s answer actually says a lot. It says that he couldn’t think of even one sentence to explain his position. Within the vast framework of totally paranoid anti-pot propaganda, Obama couldn’t find a single argument he wanted to associate himself with. That’s why he simply said "No. Next question."

At this point many of us were disgusted and angry at the NO-Bama non-answer. Shortly after the infamous Change.Gov polls, I realized that to change this insane prohibition on Marijuana would take millions of Americans screaming for change. We are seeing more blogging and even more of the press is starting to state the war on marijuana is lost.
Now we have to get the Taxation of Marijuana past one of the slickest lobbyist organizations in the world, Law Enforcement. Not only does Law Enforcement have politicians ears, but they can make dishonest statements about the "Dangers of Marijuana" and it gets MSM coverage! These statements are in the nature of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) all they have to do is introduce statements to cause the general population to vote against marijuana. They do not need to prove their claims, nor do they want to debate the merits of their claims, just give a press release an start the FUD rolling.
One group we have to help us is LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, and Norm Stamper a blogger at Huffington Post Seattles EX Police Chief.
As activists it is our duty to share with others the truth, marijuana is the safest herb on this planet and it has been used as such for 4,000 to 10,000 years. Only for the past 70 yrs has there ever been laws against Marijuana, it is past time to tax it!
Lets be politically correct, it is time for "The Taxation of Marijuana", the term legalization is to much a stigma.

It occurred to me that the people who sacrificed countless hours, talent and money to these free software projects weren't doing it for fame or fortune but to give all of us the freedom to choose. That's freedom.

Now back to our Linux discussion, only recently did I learn that Sony had released an update that disables the PS-3's other OS ability. To most people this may not be a big deal, I on the other hand bought a PS-3, just so my youngest gamer in the house could earn that game system by installing and running a Linux distro on it. This was something that really excited him and he is running Xbuntu on it now. If he does the update, no more Linux ever! No update no online gaming!
I did some research on the web and there are 2 to 6 class action suits currently being filed against Sony , I will be looking into these lawsuits to see if there are any that my son and I can enter into. Truthfully I just want the features that were advertised returned so he can play online games and learn Linux on his PS-3.


The feature allowed users of the console to install the widely used and very popular Linux operating system, which could effectively turn the PS3 into a home computer rather than an entertainment system, a feature which was touted prominently in Sony's marketing when the console was launched in 2007.

Following the removal of the feature due to security concerns earlier this month, California resident Anthony Ventura has launched a class action claim against Sony on behalf of "a nationwide class of all persons who purchased a PS3 during the period November 17, 2006 and March 27, 2010 and who did not resell their PS3", describing the removal of the feature as "based on its own interest and made at the expense of its customers".

The internet is a blaze with the the news that Google is dumping all Windows Operating Systems and software, for security reasons, glad I live in a Linux world.

According to the Financial Times,

Google is in the midst of replacing all of its Windows-based desktop PCs with ones that run Mac or Linux, citing security concerns since the company was a target of a hack originating in China back in January of 2010.

This may be something of a shock to everyone, but Google has never really been completely reliant on the Windows platform, so this is a pretty easy “fix” for the company.

In our last article of the day, Brazil shows its self to once again to be a leader in Linux innovation, what a great idea Linux in Schools.

Park Street Sydney, Australia (Press Release – May 27, 2010)- The adoption of open source software for the education sector by the Brazilian government might have seemed like a great milestone but budget crunches have slowed down the implementation of the project in many institutions. The Brazilian government selected Useful, Positive and Thin Networks to supply about 324,000 virtualized desktops in each of the country’s municipalities. That made this educational sector investment by the government the single biggest use of virtualized desktops in the world and the largest single use of Linux desktops as well globally in a massive investment.
The Useful Multiplier, an important part of the software for this investment, works by turning a single workstation into a multi-head machine, though there are certain hardware requirements that are mandatory for its efficient working with about two to ten seats being able to be supported by one desktop.

High CBD Marijuana Makes Great Medicine

One thing that is starting a buzz is high CBD marijuana, which are low in THC, Medical Marijuana that does not give the intense high of THC. Now what good is pot without the THC you ask, good question, it allows patients to take large doses of MMJ and not get to high, which could be very helpful to cancer patients. In his Phoenix Tears video Rick Simpson says to use Cannabis Indica as it is more of a calming high than Cannabis Sativa, but a hybrid CBD rich plant could be even more benifical to cancer patients.
So anyone suffering from a disease is quite likely to benefit from a High CBD strain, while those with mental health problems might find a high THC MMJ to be more helpful. So now we see different strains of MMJ are vital to properly caring for patients.

Today I came across this story over at the Washington Post, and thought that this is something that anyone using MMJ should really take a look at, it tells a very important message raw MMJ is healthier than cooked.

The singular peculiarity of Courtney's "pot doc" practice here in Northern California is what he recommends: Don't smoke the stuff, he tells patients. Eat it.

Marijuana, he avers to every person who appears before him, turns out to be brimming with healing compounds. One of the many Medical conditions that MMJ has been sucessfully treating is Epilepsy, I came across this article recently that describes one Epileptics experiences with modern medicine and that of treatment with the ancient herbal remedy MMJ.

I was only ten when it began. I had been healthy until that beautiful spring morning. Outside on the playground, beneath the wearing heat of the sun, I collapsed onto the ground and began violently seizing.

The therapeutic potential of marijuana has apparently been known since the beginning of recorded history. In fact, marijuana was likely used for medicinal purposes even before its psychoactive properties were tapped.

The medical history of marijuana is closely related to its analgesic properties, as noted by Ethan Russo:

Cannabis has a history as an analgesic agent that spans at least 4000 years, including a century in mainstream Western medicine. The reasons lie in the remarkable pharmacological properties of the herb and new scientific research reveals the inextricable link that cannabinoids possess with our own internal biochemistry.

In Assyria, Babylonia and Arcadia, marijuana was apparently used as an analgesic to treat migraines and menstrual pain and for its psychoactive properties. Evidence of marijuana use to control labour pain has also been found in Palestine and Israel. The Greeks and Romans used marijuana for general pain control and specifically for gout and rheumatism. In the Muslim world, there are references to therapeutic use dating back to the ninth century.

On reading about my Gout* I discovered that the Romans ate the seeded flowers of cannabis at night to relieve the pain and swelling associated with Gout*, and that it installed them with a sense of well being after consuming it.
Big Pharmaceutical companies fear the healing power of this medicinal herb as it could literally rob them of billions of dollars in profits!
